![]() ![]() The terrain will also sort of dictate what types of resources you have to start out with so if you have a particular type of village in mind when you start play, match the terrain to your play style. where you will experience limited movement. Also the terrain effects your expedition’s movement rate, so be wary of having a village in the middle of the tundra, mountains, forest, etc. If you have village that sits on a narrow strip of land between two large bodies of water, you will have a much more defendable position than sitting on the open plains. Much like resources, terrain will play a big role in how well your village starts out. This can be challenging to overcome so watch where the game puts you. One of the games I had gave me one fuel (wood) resource and two food resources (vegetables and exotic fruit), but my gatherers were limited so I only got exotic fruit in at a trickle. ![]() Don’t be afraid to restart immediately if you want an easier or more challenging game. I think the game guarantees that you will have access to at least on food and one fuel resource, but you will pretty much be left to the wolves after that. In this early version of the game, you can’t really change the difficulty yet, but you game experience will be drastically dependent on your village starting state. When you start your new game, the first thing you need to do is check what resources are around your village. To my knowledge there are not a large number of pre-generated maps that you can cycle through or be placed in different places it is random. That means that you get a new randomized map every time you start a new game. This section will deal with specific tips for the village itself. I will relate specific encounters in the village later, as well as specific buildings in a separate section. I am hoping that someday it will be possible to build additional areas where you can craft or construct buildings, (Outposts for crafting only, Fledgling Villages to expand your empire where more buildings can be built) but for now it all goes on in the village. ![]() Currently it is the only location from which you can craft and construct buildings. ![]() It has to be manned, defended, and cared for just like everything else in the game. Some of the random events can target your expeditions, but many target the village so don’t think that the village is always a “safe zone”. A lot of the random events occur around and are centered on your village. I am hoping that as the game develops it can expand into a full blown city occupying more tiles, (seeing good resources just beyond your village border is frustrating) but for now it is home. Your Village: As your base of operations, your village is your focal point in the game. ![]()
